Websense provides software solutions that address traditional employee Internet management issues as well as prevent web-based threats. In addition to allowing organizations to transparently monitor, manage and report on internal web traffic, Websense Enterprise also delivers unique security benefits that enhance Juniper Networks' firewall solutions. Websense delivers URL filtering for managing employee Internet access, advanced security filtering that protects employees from websites that contain malicious mobile code and phishing, and blocks spyware and keylogger backchannel communications. Additionally, Websense's proprietary network agent technology enables customers to manage instant messaging (and attachments), peer-to-peer file sharing, streaming media and other web-based applications.

Juniper Networks' NetScreen firewall is interoperable with Websense's proprietary filtering protocol to provide comprehensive web filtering functionality. As an employee accesses the Internet, the NetScreen firewall redirects the URL request to Websense, which completes a policy and database lookup. Websense returns a block/allow response to the NetScreen firewall for access to the requested URL while the Websense server logs the request for reporting purposes.
